Course access on michaelhlinka.com is free, so there is nothing to refund for it. This page covers the two things you can pay for: donations and tutoring. All amounts are in Canadian dollars, and payments are taken by Michael Hlinka through Stripe.
Donations
- Donations are voluntary and never change your access.
- Michael Hlinka is not a registered charity, so donations are not tax-deductible and we can't issue tax receipts. You'll get an email receipt for your records.
- If you change your mind, ask within 14 days of giving. A refund is at Michael's discretion.
- If you were charged twice, charged the wrong amount, or someone used your card without your permission, tell us and we'll refund what was charged by mistake, whenever you notice.
- A monthly donation can be stopped at any time. Write to us and the next payment won't be taken.
Tutoring
A one-hour session costs CAD $300.00 plus 13% HST (CAD $39.00), CAD $339.00 in total, paid when you book. The full rules are in the Tutoring Terms. In short:
- Cancel at least 48 hours before the start time: full refund.
- Reschedule at least 48 hours before the start time: free, to any other open time.
- Less than 48 hours before, or if you don't show up: no refund and no reschedule.
- If Michael cancels or can't hold the session: you choose a full refund or a new time.
- If the time you paid for was already taken: an automatic full refund.
How to ask
Reply to your receipt email, or write to michael@michaelhlinka.com from the address you paid with. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. Your bank may take 5 to 10 business days to show it.
Currency and card fees
We charge in Canadian dollars and refund the same amount in Canadian dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate and may charge its own fees on the payment and the refund. We can't refund those.
Your rights under consumer law
This policy doesn't take away any right to cancel or get a refund that you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or the consumer protection law where you live.
